Necessity Gifts
- Postage stamps for seniors are greatly appreciated - and I get them at a slight discount at Costco.

Christmas for the kids
- I have always been very practical. My young adult children always get the typical stocking stuffers of toothbrushes, floss, chapstick, funny treats with money in the toe. And for under the tree, they get stuff like towels, washclothes, sheets, bath essentials, clothes, pajamas and the yearly blanket. They always pick about the blanket but let me skip it one year and they wanna know where it is. I tend to lean towards the items they will need but not necessarily enjoy spending their money on. That way I know they have what they need and they can use their own money for things that they want.

Dishwasher detergent!
- On my friends last birthday I stocked up on the finish dishwasher tablets when they were on sale and had $2.50 coupons. I only paid around $1.00 for some, before tax of course. I got a big liquor store box and filled it with 10 boxes of the soap and other kitchen necessities like dish/hand towels. It was an unconventional present but definitely useful!

Necessity Gifts
- My daughter is very specific about the kind of expensive shampoo and conditioner she'll use. She is in college and would rather buy hair products than eat. For Christmas I always buy her a few bottle of each and she is thrilled. It's a splurge and a necessity (or she thinks it is) all in one.
