Save on Back to School Shopping During Tax Free Shopping Days in South Carolina

The South Carolina tax-free shopping days will be held from August 6-8, 2010. A general list of tax-exempt items includes:
  • Clothing and footwear.
  • Clothing accessories.
  • School supplies.
  • Computers, accessories and software.
  • Linens
Items not tax-exempt includes:
  • Jewelry, cosmetics, eye wear, wallets and watches.
  • Furniture.
  • Layway or similar deferred payment and delivery.
  • Rental of clothing or footwear.
  • Sale or lease of an item for use in a trade or business.

A second tax-free event has been approved for 2010 only. This two-day sales tax holiday applies to purchases of handguns, rifles and shotguns and will take place on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving - November 26 and 27. 2010.
