The Perks of Joining a Group
I happened to be at an outlet mall on a day when the Red Hat Society had a large convention held in the city. The manager of the area outlet mall contacted the group in advance and invited them to the center for an afternoon of shopping. The center made special provisions for the group including refreshments, a special resting area, give-a-ways made up of merchandise from the retailers at the center, a fashion show, a free makeover, and a shopping bag for each member that had individual retail coupons inside and a list of the stores offering specials to the group.I watched as the woman went from store to store in their funny little outfits of purple and red and in most stores they were met with personalized service, refreshments, and special discounted merchandise available just for them. I was able to get a peek at all the merchandise they received for free and boy did I get jealous.
Their shopping bags included a lot of free products.
- An instructional booklet on how to tie scarves.
- Scented-pillar candle.
- Terrycloth visor.
- Glass ring holder.
- Pair of holiday socks.
- Pair of earrings.
- One coupon for a free drink at one of the restaurant chains.
- Free checkbook calendar, plus various other free samples and gifts.
There was one more very special 'free' thing that the group received and that was great friendship, a lot of laughter, and many beautiful smiles. What a bargain!
