My mother was quite thrifty and always managed to put together activities that did not require a lot of money. When it came time for us to decorate our bikes, she would supply us with all the paraphernalia we needed, and I do not think any of it cost more then a dollar or two.
Decorating items included:
- Colorful streamers and yarns that could be duct-taped to our handlebars.
- A rainbow of straws that were sliced down one side allowing us to put them on our wheel spokes.
- Paint with various colors that we could splatter onto our bikes.
- Fun nameplates made from cardboard that we decorated and attached to the fender of our bikes.
After we finished decorating our bikes we would go for a ride around the neighborhood, displaying our great works of art. Fun times!
