Target Price Match Policy

Learn How to Use the Low Price Guarantee at Target

By

Target has a very competitive price match guarantee program designed to give Target shoppers the best prices on their products. Shoppers can not price match items from stores locally, but also at specific online stores. A list of local competitors for the individual Target stores can be located at the customer service desks inside the stors. Plus, Target will allow coupons on items that have received a lower price from price-matching, but with some limitations. Find out below how to price match at Target stores and how to use your coupons to save even more.

Target's Price Match Guarantee - The Basics If you buy a qualifying item at a Target store then find the identical item for less in the following week’s Target weekly ad or within seven days at Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, BabiesRUs.com or in a competitor’s local printed ad, Target will match the price. Price match may be requested at Guest Services prior to your purchase with proof of current lower price or by bringing in your original Target store receipt and proof of the current lower price.

Price Match Guarantee: How it Works

  • The product must be be the identical. It must have the same brand name and be the same size, weight, color, quantity and model number.

  • Limit of one competitor online price match per identical item, per customer. For example, if you want to buy two blenders and your find the same item cheaper at Walmart.com, Target will only adjust one of the prices on one of the blenders. If you had a blender and a toaster and found both products cheaper at Walmart.com, Target would adjust the prices on both items.

  • Price must be valid at the time the price match is requested.

  • Retail price must be shown on the website or print ad. Online prices will be validated by a Target employee.

  • Competitor online items must be in stock at the time a price match is requested. If the online competitor shows "out of stock" you are out of luck.

  • Competitor catalogs can be matched as long as the catalog displays a current date, retail price and meets all other competitor ad match qualifications.

  • If item is not available in a Target store, a rain check will not be issued to match the online price or competitor’s print ad.

  • Target reserves the right to verify a competitor's advertised price and the availability of the item.

Price Match Guarantee: Exclusions Competitor Exclusions:
  • Alaska and Hawaii Target stores are excluded from online competitor price matching.

  • Items originally purchased at Target.com are excluded. They do not match the price of the online merchandise with the price offered by Target stores or another competitor.

  • Target prices are often set up on a regional bases, so they do not match prices from other Target stores.

  • Online prices from competitors other than those listed above.

Price Exclusions:
  • "Marketplace" prices: Price matched items must be sold by Walmart.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, or BabiesRUs.com. Prices from third party sellers on these websites will not be honored. : A "third company seller" is a company selling its products through another retailer. The retailer does not stock or ship the product. Amazon, for example, has a lot of third-party sellers. You can spot them when you look at the product page. It will say "Ships from and sold by: (a company other than Amazon)" under the price.

  • Prices that only display on a website after shoppers log in.

  • Clearance, closeout, damaged product, used, refurbished, open packages or liquidation sales.

  • Prices advertised only as a percent off or dollar off. The actual price you pay must appear on the product page.

  • Paid membership club or paid loyalty programs (e.g. prices that require a club or loyalty card that is associated with a membership fee).

  • Buy one, get one if the retail price is not shown in the advertisement.

  • A competitor coupon is required in order to get the price you want Target to price match.

  • Competitor price matches on items where Target or the competitor is offering a free gift card.

  • Mail-in offers or instant rebates.

  • Offers that include financing.

Target employee discounts may not be used with online competitor price match. All matches are done against pre-tax prices.

Price Matching and Coupons

Shoppers can use coupons when price matching per Target's normal coupon policy. When using coupons, these steps will be followed:

  • Manufacturer coupons: manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.

  • Target coupons: Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.

  • Combining both Target and manufacturer coupons: the Target coupon will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price. Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.
