Best Buy announced that it will be reintroducing its holiday price-matching program year-round. Starting March 3, Best Buy will price match all local retail competitors and 19 major online competitors in all product categories and on nearly all in-stock products, whenever asked by a customer.
Best Buy said this move signals "the end of showrooming," which is when shoppers go to brick-and-mortar stores to see and try out a product they are interested in buying, but then leave the store to make the purchase with an online store offering a lower price.
Target began offering a similar program in January 2013, announcing it will price match top online retailers year-round, including Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com and Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com. Target stores will also price match items found on Target.com.
