The event was originally organized by Luke Knowles, founder of FreeShippingDay.com in an effort to stimulate shoppers to shop online in the final weeks before Christmas. The event has now expanded and has been added to the other major holiday online shopping events; Cyber Monday and Green Monday. Many online stores and coupon sites will be promoting free shipping deals later this week.
