Home Depot Kicks Off Christmas Light and Power Drill Exchange

Monday October 26, 2009
The Home Depot has announced it will kick-off this holiday season with its second annual Eco Options Christmas Light Trade In event and the first ever Power Drill Trade In, Trade Up event.

On November 5, customers can bring in their old working or non-working holiday light strings to be recycled and receive a $3 off coupon towards the purchase of energy efficient seasonal light-emitting diodes (LED) string lights.

Customers must buy their new LED lights between November 5 and November 15 and are limited to five redemptions.

Why Change to LED Lights?

LED lights are shown to use 80 percent less electricity than standard mini lights and last up to 10 times longer. This holiday season, The Home Depot will carry traditional white and multicolored ENERGY STAR qualified LED lights that can be linked up to 87 strands (or one-quarter mile) of lights off of one outlet without the scare of overloading the circuit.

Power Drill Trade-In, Trade-Up Event

In addition, The Home Depot Power Drill Trade In, Trade Up event begins Sunday, October 25 and runs through Sunday, November 8 and offers customers the chance to bring in their used or broken power drills and get 15 percent off a new lithium-ion drill. Shoppers can bring in their old power drill to any Home Depot U.S. store and trade up to a lithium-ion drill and they will recycle your old drill.

Both events will be available at all Home Depot U.S. stores.
