Decline in Spending for St. Patricks Day Celebrations

Tuesday March 3, 2009
According to a recent survey, spending on St. Patrick's Day celebrations is expected to reach $3.29 billion which will be down from last year's figures.

The survey conducted by BIGresearch, concluded people celebrating the Irish holiday will spend an average of $32.80 on decorations, food and beverage and festive attire, compared to an average of $35.04 in 2008.

$3.29 billion still sounds like a lot of money spent during these tough economic times. I doubt I'll be contributing much to the pot. I'll be digging out the same bright green sweatshirt I always wear when going to the local parade.
