Schnucks Kicks Off Its New Drug Program

Monday June 30, 2008
Schnuck Markets Inc. announced it now offers Schnucks Pharmacy customers additional prescription savings on more than 300 commonly-prescribed generic drugs.

The new offers include $4 generics for up to a 30-day supply and $10 for a 90-day supply. Across the Midwest, Schnucks Pharmacies are the only pharmacies to offer three savings opportunities on medications to treat a variety of ailments including high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, cholesterol, diabetes and allergies.

Last October, Schnuck's began its free antibiotics program which offers customers a 21-day supply of any one of more than 50 generic oral antibiotics at no charge. The new $4 prescription program is in addition to the free antibiotic program

Schnucks Vice President of Pharmacy Michael Juergensmeyer said, "We've been able to significantly strengthen the program by bringing many more medications in through our own distribution center. This has enabled us to cut supply chain costs and pass those savings on to our customers."

Just as with the “Free” oral antibiotic program, there is no required purchase, no coupon and no insurance needed to make use of these special offers. However, if a customer’s insurance dictates a lower price than $4 for a 30-supply or $10 for a 90-day supply, they will receive the prescription at the lower price.

Visit the Schnuck website for answers to frequently asked questions about the company's current drug programs.
