Register Receipt Coupons Going Local

Thursday January 25, 2007
Seeing printed coupons on the back of our grocery store cash-register receipts is something most of us are used to and have even come to expect. Generally the coupons are targeted towards an item already purchased. An example would be if you purchased Pedigree dog food, you may find coupons for competing brands.

This is a great source for finding coupons with value, however a fairly new trend is popping up in some stores. Instead of getting grocery coupons, you may get coupons for local businesses located close to the grocery store where you are shopping. But the really great news is, not only can you get the coupons at check out, you can also go online and print coupons based on your zip code.

The Houston, Texas, company is Register Tapes Unlimited, LLC. (RTUI) and currently offer their services in 40 states. They are affiliated with Kroger, Shop Rite, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Kroger, Roundys Supermarkets and more. They also offer a free coupon search tool on their website - ReceiptCoupons.com.

Visitors can search by category and various distances. You can select "All" which covers coupons for anything from hotel to dry cleaning, or search for specific categories, such as restaurants. If nothing comes up in your area, try expanding the distant miles to 100 and the category to ALL.

Since the company does not service all states, a search in your area may not produce coupons, but you may want to bookmark the web site and check back next time you have plans to head out of town.

I like coupons for local businesses. We get our pizza coupons and coupons for Baskin Robbins. At the store I shop in though, Winn Dixie, we get both types of coupons when we check out. I have gotten coupons for $10 off when I spend a certain amount of money and coupons for free items. I use alot of the coupon they give me and it really pays for us.

I like to receive a variety of coupons. The dry cleaning coupons are a really nice savings, so much so that I will wait to go to the cleaners if I do not have a coupon. The food coupons are always great, but sometimes it’s nice to save on other services.
