Kentucky Fried Chicken (KTC) Delivers a Secret Message

Monday February 27, 2006
Colonel Sanders' is teasing viewers with a new TV ad designed to tempt viewers to play the ad back on a slow speed on a VCR or digital video recorder to uncover a hidden message.

The ad was designed to get those who have the technology to speed through commercials to stop and view the KTC advertisement. Anyone who can solve the secret message will win a coupon for one of KFC's newest dishes, the Buffalo Snacker chicken sandwich.

"This is taking the exact opposition approach — rewarding viewers for taking the time to engage and be interactive with television," said Tom O'Keefe, of Foote Cone & Belding, the advertising agency that came up with the KFC advertisement.

Viewers will see the ads on several networks including NBC's telecasts of the Winter Olympics.
