Wal-Mart Cross Promotes Digital Music with Everyday Products
Once such company, The Gillette Co., is putting Wal-mart digital music coupons inside the packages of the Oral-B toothbrushes and Duracell batteries. The coupons have saving codes that are entered at Walmart.com when downloading music.
Combine this type of aggressive marketing with Wal-mart's already low price of 88 cents per downloaded song, and you can predict the impact they will have on the digital music business.
Kevin Swint, director of entertainment categories for Wal-Mart, told the Internet Retailer, “We see this as a unique way to introduce people to digital music."
